  • u n i (november/december 2011)
pencil/mixed media.
shown as part of fragments become a whole with ali page, charlie crampton, joseph hayes, karis upton & william blows - in ‘the old parlour’ upstairs at the bicycle shop (norwich) throughout december 2011.
all six of us exhibited together at the beginning of 2011 in fragments of a whole - which was also my first project in curation - it was lovely to end the year with the same bunch.

  • 25. don’t clean your desk (november 2011)

    looped photographic stills.

organised chaos is my favourite oxymoron.

if you keep your desk too tidy, too ordered, too empty - it’s like staring into blank space. an untidy desk is the home to layer upon layer of forgotten objects and potential ideas waiting to be revealed at the right moment. keep it messy and revel in the surprise.

  • 42. remember (november 2011)

    looped photographic stills.

remember the sound of the sea at thorpeness.

the mind is an ever-increasing storage box for thoughts and experience. our memories are the building blocks of our knowledge and the sparks of our creativity. there is no order to memory. they are never forgotten and can reappear at the strangest of times, setting us back and moving us forward.

  • “they are documentaries of what it feels like to be. it’s very intimate, it is more like a documentary of what it’s like to get into bed at night and turn out the lights and just lie there and go over your day and feel what it’s like to be. it’s a documentary of one’s own being.”

  • the seven minutes project (july 2011 onwards…)
logo ideas in pencil.
it takes an average person seven minutes to fall asleep. inspired from a line in jonathan safran foer’s book extremely loud & incredibly close, this is a concept project that aims to produce seven independent exhibitions in found spaces across norwich over the course of several months. An eclectic group of artists will set out to explore the time span that divides the space between the conscious and unconscious and bridge this gap.
artists involved are sophie barrett, tom barrett, adam batchelor, ryan byrne, coco crampton, alice lee & ajuanne payne. working in a variety of media and adapting their work and individual styles to fit the spaces they find, this project sets out to be an exciting insight into artist development and innovative curating and collaborative techniques.
